Brazil Proposes New Bill to Pay Employee Salaries in Bitcoin
On March 14, 2025, the Brazilian House of Representatives proposed a new bill that allows employers to pay employee salaries using digital currencies such as Bitcoin. The bill specifies that cryptocurrency payments must not exceed 50% of the total salary and must have the mutual consent of both employers and employees.
This bill aims to promote a digital work environment in the country and provide greater flexibility in salary payments. However, before it can take effect, the bill must go through the approval process in the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the President of Brazil.
If approved, Brazil will become one of the few countries to accept salary payments in digital currencies, which could help reduce transaction costs and improve the liquidity of digital assets in the country.
